This is one of the most obscure models in Ibanez history. In the mid 90s Hoshino discussed internally what the Ibanez focus at trade fairs like NAMM or Musikmesse Frankfurt should be. Instead of standard catalog models Hoshino wanted to spotlight more one-of-a-kind prototype models to change the atmosphere of the Ibanez display at trade shows. The RG-KB4 was one of these prototype models which was built in 1997 as a headturner to center the attention on the showfloor at the Ibanez booth. While the models were extremely spectacular to look at, these prototype models never made it into mass production.
